Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, the Mexican American journalist. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a reporter in 2016. She is the daughter of the TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bi-lingual since nine years old a useful skill that helped her secure her first job working as an assistant to the producer at Univision in Miami and gave her the chance to work with the producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next job was as reporter for sports at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. In addition to reporting on issues related to immigration and drug-trafficking on both sides of the border, she served as a reporter for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English, and another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she was often required to act as an anchor for sports and weather. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she is more responsible. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She was hired as sports anchor by Despierta America Deportes for their morning show. As a sports anchor she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports show). Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. At some point they were moved into Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami following the move out of Mexico to the US. Soon after they separated, and in 1995 Fabio Fajardo was remarried. He died from kidney cancer in 2006. Her residence was at Canton Ohio with her older sister in the summertime, where she had been offered the opportunity of a job. Antonietta was a senior in high school and had a clear idea of the path she was looking for. While deciding if Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta went to visit the school. In the end she was enthralled with the school. And they offered her an academic major. She completed her schooling and was accepted to the University with a degree of media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU in which she is a member. They developed a close friendship. Her professor urged her to believe in herself and was greatly moved by his love of journalism.
